	作者略歴 Brief record	折元立身は、70年代から、世界中で旅を続けながらさまざまなナンセンスなパフォーマンスを行ない、それを写真に記録してきた。その精神は一種のダダイズム的なナンセンスさとユーモアを持ち、たまたま居合わせた観客に多くの興味と戸惑いと、笑いを誘発してきた。自分自身を作品の一部としてコミュニケーションにかかわる発表を行ない、特にヨーロッパで注目され、長らくドイツに在住した。 近年は、アルツハイマーを患った実母との生活を「アート・ママ」シリーズとして写真作品化している。巨大な靴を履いたり、タイヤを首にかけた姿で登場する老婆はユーモラスで、作家の、母に対する愛情も感じられるとともに、高齢化社会で家族と共に生活していくことについて、ポジティブな提言を行なっているとも受け取れる。 2000年に東京の原美術館で個展開催。2001年ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレ（アペルト展）に招待参加。 横浜トリエンナーレでは、膨大な数の一連の写真作品を一挙に展示するほか、「アート・ママ」シリーズをクイーンモールに大懸垂幕で、また元町商店街などにポスターで展示することを検討中。さらにイベントとして、代表作である「パン人間」パフォーマンスを行なう予定である。 Born in Japan in 1946. Lives and works in Japan. For decades since the 1970s, Orimoto has traveled around the world doing nonsense performances and documenting them. With Dadaistic nonsense and humor, his performances have evoked curiosity, embarrassment or laughs from the spectators who happened to be there. He especially attracted attention in Europe for the performance he dubbed "communication art" that uses the artist himself as a part of it. He lived in Germany for years. In 2000, Orimoto had a solo exhibition at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo. The exhibition included his recent series of works "Art Mama"documenting his daily life spent caring for his Alzheimer-afflicted mother. The works depict an aged woman in various humorous scenes, for example, in big shoes and with a tire around her neck. These works are informed with Orimoto's love for his mother and probably a positive suggestion about living with family in an aging society. In 2001, he was invited to participate in the Venice Biennale "d'APERTutto." At the YOKOHAMA 2001, Orimoto will present a huge series of photographs. He will also exhibit the "Art Mama" series as a big banner in the Queen Mall and posters in the Motomachi shopping center in Yokohama. In addition, Orimoto is planning to do his "Bread Man" performance.
