	作者略歴 Brief record	59年よりニューヨークで｢フルクサス｣の運動に参加。イヴェント、個展などを精力的に展開。69年にジョン・レノンと結婚。80年代後半より作品発表を再開、観客が釘を打つことで制作される絵画、インストラクションと呼ばれる指示文や言葉とオブジェを組み合わせたインスタレーションなどが多く、コンセプチュアリズムのひとつの源として近年再評価がすすんでいる。2000年、初の大規模な回顧展がアメリカ各地の美術館を巡回する。 国際展：93年ヴェニス・ビエンナーレ、2000年シドニー・ビエンナーレに参加。 日本では草月美術館、94年スパイラルガーデンで個展開催。 Born in Tokyo in 1933. Lives and works in New York. Ono participated in the Fluxus movement in New York that started in 1959, energetically presenting art events and solo exhibitions before marrying John Lennon in 1969. She began showing art again in the late 1980s. Her oeuvre includes paintings that were completed by viewers by driving nails in them and installations made up of verbal instructions and objects. Her art is being revaluated in recent years as a source of conceptualism. A major retrospective, her first, toured the United States in 2000. International exhibitions: Venice Biennale, 1993, Sydney Biennale, 2000. Exhibitions in Japan: Solo exhibitions at Sogetsu Hall and Spiral Garden, 1994.
