This edition will be led by the renowned curators Cosmin Costina\u0219 and Inti Guerrero as Artistic Directors.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1826 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yokohamatriennale.jp\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/10\/CosminCostinas_IntiGuerrero_photo_en.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"488\" height=\"398\" \/><br \/>\r\n<p><b>Cosmin Costina\u0219 <\/b>(b.1982 in Satu Mare, Romania) is a curator and writer, and until the end of this year the Senior Curator of Exhibition Practices at HKW, Berlin, a position he assumed in\u00a0 July 2022. Costina\u0219 will continue his engagement with HKW in the role of curatorial advisor. He has previously served as the Director of Para Site in Hong Kong (2011-2022). Artistic Director of Kathmandu Triennale\u00a0 (2022), and co-curator of the Romanian Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale (2022).<\/p>\r\n<p><b>Inti Guerrero <\/b>(b.1983 in Bogot\u00e1, Colombia) is a curator and educator, and Adjunct Professor in the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong. He was the Artistic Director of Bellas Artes Projects in Manila\/Bataan, the Philippines (2018-2021) and the Estrellita B. Brodsky Adjunct Curator, Latin American Art at Tate, London (2016-2020).<\/p>\r\n<p>While they each have extensive experiences in curatorial projects across multiple continents, they have co-curated many exhibitions and projects together in the last decade. As Artistic Directors of the 24th Biennale of Sydney (2024), they received wide acclaim for a curatorial approach that celebrated joyful acts of collective resistance. They also served as guest curators for the Dakar Biennale 2018, and have co-curated exhibitions in Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul, San Francisco, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok, among others.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"\/english\/news\/about-ad-yt9\"><span style=\"background-color: yellow;\"><strong>About the Artistic Director<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<h2><b>Connecting with People who are <\/b><b>Aspiring to Live a Better Tomorrow<\/b><\/h2>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"newstext\">\r\n<p>The Yokohama Triennale is one of Japan\u2019s leading recurring international exhibitions, first launched in 2001. The 9th edition, scheduled for 2027, will mark its 27th year. On this occasion, we are revisiting and strengthening our commitment to the following four goals:<\/p>\r\n<p>In a time marked by unresolved global tensions, the rise of artificial intelligence, and widespread anxiety about the future, Yokohama Triennale believes in art\u2019s capacity to connect with all those aspiring to live a better tomorrow.<\/p>\r\n<ol>\r\n\t<li>Embracing Yokohama\u2019s History and Culture<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<p>Since the opening of its port in 1859, Yokohama has remained at the forefront of international cultural exchange, welcoming new ideas and influences from around the world. Today, it is the second-largest city in Japan,\u00a0 with a population of 3.77 million, and is home to 130,000 residents from 169 different countries. It is locally rooted in its history and culture, but simultaneously serves as a gateway to the world. The Yokohama Triennale will curate and develop programs that reflect and amplify the city\u2019s unique identity.<\/p>\r\n<ol start=\"2\">\r\n\t<li>Connecting Yokohama\u2019s Resources<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<p>Yokohama initiated its \u201cCreative City Policy\u201d in 2004, aiming to promote urban regeneration through the arts and culture. As a result, alternative art centers have taken root citywide and continue to evolve. The 9th edition of Yokohama Triennale will closely connect Yokohama Museum of Art, its primary venue, with these partners to create a vibrant network of artistic highlights throughout the city.<\/p>\r\n<ol start=\"3\">\r\n\t<li>Opening Our Doors to Everyone<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<p>The Yokohama Triennale is committed to serving as \u201cthe best beginner\u2019s guide to contemporary art.\u201d Through a careful exploration of contemporary art\u2019s current trends, it aims to open up new ways for visitors to see and engage with the world. At the same time, it will endeavor to showcase works that can be enjoyed intuitively, responding to the desires of those who want to explore art for the first time.<\/p>\r\n<ol start=\"4\">\r\n\t<li>Sharing the vision of GREEN\u00d7EXPO 2027<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<p>The 9th Yokohama Triennale is set to coincide with GREEN\u00d7EXPO 2027, hosted by the City of Yokohama.
