In 1991, TOYODA took a continuing-education class by Nan Goldin at the International Center of Photography, New York. From 1993, he has been working exclusively in the medium of slideshows rather than fixing an image on paper. Personally operating one or more analog slide projectors, TOYODA’s slideshows take the form of feature-length visual diary. His photographs that have touched numerous viewers over the years, such as at Anthology Film Archives (New York), Images Festival (Toronto), Ann Arbor Film Festival (Ann Arbor), Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT), Taka Ishii Gallery(Tokyo) and so on, can only be seen in this live context. He now lives and works in Japan since 2012.
