	作者略歴 Brief record	インドの神話、政治家、社会的な現実、ポピュラー・カルチャーなど、多様な要素を取り込んだ絵画を制作しているアーティスト。このトリエンナーレでは、街頭の光景のように並べた6つのシャッター・ペインティングを出品する。ボンベイの庶民的な町によく見かけるシャッターの上に直接に描いたもので、扉を巻き上げるとその中の壁にもう一つの絵が現れるという仕掛けである。彼自身の家族の肖像などの個人的なイメージと矛盾に満ちたインドの歴史や現状の光景のアレゴリカルな二重性を、シャッターそのものの構造に託したユニークな作品群である。 2000年「Century City」展（テイト・モダン）に出品。2001年6月、トリエンナーレに先駆けて国際交流フォーラムにおいて日本で初めての個展を開催。 Born in India in 1959. Lives and works in Mumbai, India. Dodiya depicts a wide variety of subjects in his paintings: Indian mythology, politicians, social problems and popular culture. At the YOKOHAMA 2001, Dodiya will present six shutters of the kind often seen on a street in Mumbai. When the shutters are opened, paintings appear on the walls inside. The paintings will comprise two different images. One is personal, portraying his family. The other is social, depicting allegorical pictures of social contradiction in India in the past and present. The structures of the shutters imply dualism. International exhibitions: "Century City" at the Tate Modern in 2000, his first solo exhibition in Japan at the Japan Foundation Forum in June, 2001.
