タータンチェックのプリント地の上に、絵筆で規則的なパターンの色彩を繰り返し重ね描きするという、独自の技法の絵画を一貫して制作し続けているアーティスト。既製の布地のイメージをそのまま流用するというポストモダニズム的な要素と、ミニマル・アート的な反復のシステムとを共存させた作品だが、見方によっては筆触の世界の極限化とも言うべき先鋭な方法から美しく立ち現れる絵画空間でもある。
93年ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレ､98年シドニー・ビエンナーレに参加。

Lives and works in Shanghai, China.
Ding paints colors one on top of another repeatedly
in regular patterns on tartan. His works combine
postmodernism and minimalism. He uses the image
of ready-made printed cloth as the element of
his postmodernistic works. He shows the element
in a system of repetition, which you often see
in minimal art. In a sense, Ding's works are a
beautiful pictorial space emerging with the help
of a radical technique in brushstroke honed to
the ultimate.
