大学では建築や彫刻を勉強し、次第にパフォーマンス・アーティストへとその活動の幅を発展させてきた。虫の棲みかや生き方について興味を持ち、｢バグ｣というシリーズのパフォーマンスやインスタレーションを発表している。また彼女は紙と唾で自らの巣箱を構築し、数日をそこで過ごすパフォーマンスを行っている。それは昆虫の生態をメタファーに、人間の身体の変化を考えると同時に、現代を支配するコンピューターのプログラムに批判的に介入する｢バグ｣としての身体についての考察でもある。
Born in Canada in 1968. Lives and works in Canada.
Ciona studied architecture and sculpture in college.
Later, she gradually developed towards performance
art. Inspired by insect life, Ciona has produced
a series of performances and installations, called
"Bug." In one performance, she made a nest from
paper and her own saliva and spent several days
in the nest. Ciona uses the behaviors of insects
as a metaphor for human behaviors and also for
those of bugs that affect the computer programs
that our world is so dependent on.
