常に自然環境と自然のシステムへの考えを背景に持ち、様々なモード、素材、そしてアイデアに富んだ作品を制作している。1994年には、いろいろな気候状況を創出することのできる暖房、蒸気房、冷房を含んだ人工環境を造りだすリサーチプロジェクト「Climate
Chambers」を発表した。訪れた人々はその空間の中に入って、激しい気温の変化を体験することができるようになっていた。彼らは科学者ではないが、アーティストとしての視点から見た科学的アイディアと資料、そしてユーモアを交えて作品を造りあげている。横浜トリエンナーレの出品作品としては、直径4mのドーム内側からの360度の映像投射技術を新たに発表する。

Behind Bigert & Bergstrom's work is their attention
to the environment and the system of nature. Bigert
& Bergstrom make their works with abundant ideas,
using various materials and through different
modes. In 1994, they exhibited "Climate Chambers."
It was a research project in which an artificial
environment was created with heat, steam, cold
and other chambers reproducing various climates.
Inside the chambers, the visitors experienced
extreme changes in temperature. Bigert & Bergstrom
are not scientists, but they have scientific ideas
derived from their artistic mind and a lot of
data. Using those resources, they create their
works with a tinge of humor. At the YOKOHAMA 2001,
Bigert & Bergstrom will show a 360-degree image
projection, with which images are projected from
the inside of a dome 4 meters across. |
